Want some whiz wit dat?

I’ve been saying that the Steelers are underrated, overshadowed, under the radar…a sneaky good kind of team that has just been going about their business and letting other stories steal the headlines. Well, let’s just hope that no one noticed the Steelers this week either. It is unfortunate that we only get to play the Eagles in regular season, once every 4 years, though, lets have the games in Pittsburgh.

The game wasn’t on locally so I headed over here to take it in…in hindsight, yard work would have been a better option. I certainly would have covered more ground.

Pittsburgh’s offense was so enthralling that I found the time to do a little texting. Here’s a glimpse into the minds of two Steelers fans (myself and Andy) as the 4th quarter went down with a little post game text commentary (note: we’re attending the game this monday night, cheap seats):

• 6:29pm – Dave – You at the game?
• 6:31pm – Andy – no, unfortnately, I’m not at the game. Are you at the sports bar? They’ve played ugly, but they still have a chance to win this game.
• 6:35pm – Dave – yeah at the sports bar. It is ugly but the d has given us a chance. If ben had just 1 more sec.
• 6:37pm – Andy – Yeah. At times the o-line looks like they’re really confused. The d is keping them in this game.
• 6:39pm – Dave – its a field position battle now. We need the big play
• 6:40pm – Andy – That was a huge punt. We need to throw on first and 2nd downs to keep the blitz honest.
• 6:42pm – Dave – Im scared this is the kind of physical game were supposed to win
• 6:46pm – Andy – Hopefully, this hasn’t exposed the offensive line. They’ve looked shakey throughout this game.
• 6:48pm – Dave – Too late they look quite exposed
• 6:56pm – Andy – The offense looks terrible. Willie Parker’s got 13 carries for 20 yards.
• 6:57pm – Dave – The safety was good. Still need a td and now we didnt have to punt from the end zone
• 6:58pm – Dave – Yeah not good at all
• 6:59pm – Dave – gotta get the call back SOON
• 6:59pm – Dave – Ball
• 7:01pm – Andy – Thanks for clarifying. They’re getting it now. One big play is all they need. Their punter may be mvp of this game, other than the defense.
• 7:07pm – Dave – stink
• 7:08pm – Andy – That might do it for them. The defense needs to come up huge right now.
• 7:11pm – Dave – do we have a 9 pt play
• 7:12pm – Andy – At this point, I’m not even sure we have a 9 yard play.
• 7:13pm – Dave – nope
• 7:21pm – Andy – They should have kicked the FG there. They needed 2 scores anyway.
• 7:23pm – Dave – not a smartly played game. We didnt seem to make any changes in the 2nd half
• 7:45pm – Andy – I’m sure they’ll get things back on track next week. You’re right, they made no noticable changes in the second half.
• 7:49pm – Dave – No screens no outlets for ben to quickly check down to. Nothing of note. At least theyll be mad and a little desperate against 2 – O baltimore. We should get a good game.
• 7:51pm – Andy – I want to see Joe Flacco lose a limb…in christian love, of course. They need to spend some time looking at their offensive game plan.
• 8:08pm – Dave – Agreed

So, there you have it. Calling it as we saw it and wishng we weren’t seeing it.

Willie Parker and Casey Hampton are OUT for Monday nights game…I’m just a little bit worried. AND praying that Rashard can hold the ball. Losing Hampton is a little more concerning as we already lack depth on the DL and a groin can nag for weeks. Step it up Hoke.

Our worst fears, realized…well at least Peter King thinks they’re a strong possibility, it’ll only heat up a one sided rivalry and stir more hate in the Pittsburgh hearts toward Cleveland. It just hurts everytime I think of Cowher’s chin strolling the Brownies sideline.
