Byron “I’m really fat and I play hurt…because I have to, I’m hurt all the time” Leftwich, formerly of the Jacksonville Jaguars signed today with the Steelers. Thus, making the injury to Charlie Batch a really bad deal…we lose Charlie and get Byron. Before BL’s Jaguar days I liked him. I love his heart and how can you not like the desire that he showed at Marshall when his O-Line carried him to the line of scrimmage during a drive. But, for my money, I still have visions of Daunte Culpepper’s Vikings heyday. Well, let’s just hope we never need him or any QB not named Ben.

The good news, maybe Byron can share some good chopping wood stories to get us fired up and prepared for October 5th. I have to believe that this date and our recent struggles with Jacksonville had to play into the decision to go with Leftwich. (Oh and Ken Anderson was his QB coach in Jax)

Continuing on the “fat” theme. Casey Hampton has apparently provided sufficient propitiation for his large frame to Coach Tomlin. He is now suddenly Physically ABLE to perform.

Oh and we got another punter, and do we ever need some punter competition. Can I just say how incredibly sad I am that we don’t have Sepulveda this season? I just hope he’s back and better than ever next year.
