plenty of time for sleeping now…
Thank you Pittsburgh Steelers. Thank you for doing the right thing. Thank you for not putting up with the crap that has begun to define the NFL. Thank you for making a statement. Thank you for distancing yourself from the “Bengals” of the NFL.
The Tribune-Review is reporting this morning that on the heels of Cedrick Wilson’s arrest yesterday that the team has terminated his contract.
Now let it be said that if this were James Harrison the team MVP getting arrested for hitting a girl…oh wait, that did happen! Umm, Obviously, while Cedrick was a productive player he was certainly expendable. And before I go too crazy praising the morals and “rightness” of the Steelers that this is a business not a church.
There are several factors that got Cedrick cut…it wasn’t a one and done kind of thing. He had all sorts of bad press earlier in the year for domesticly disputing with the girl. He was the 3rd or 4th WR in a year that many believe the Steelers will draft a WR in April. And the team is extremely tight with the salary cap and a little breathing room certainly won’t hurt.
In regard to James Harrison: I certainly do not condone what he did a few weeks ago. But from all indications this was not an on going problem that has been building for several weeks. I’m more than willing to grant forgiveness if James is sorry; and it seems that he was certainly truthful and forthright from the press reports. But, if it happens again…I say we cut him too. Yes, I said it. Cut our team MVP. Now that would make a statement.
In other words, James, don’t do it again. Learn from Cedrick’s demise.
Here’s a great article with some sort of explanation as to why he was cut and why this incident in different than James Harrison’s. According to Dan Rooney.
