Interesting “fan” report in ESPN the Magazine this week. They listed who the fans of each NFL team were rooting for in yesterday’s Super Bowl. The majority of fans from every team were pulling for the Giants. Interesting. Steelers came in second to only the Jets with 65% of our Pittsburgh fans rooting for the Giants…If you’re in the 35%, what’s your deal? Please stand up and be counted, I don’t understand. (note to Steelers fans…hate the Pats.)
As an avid American Idol fan…I enjoyed the Roethlisberger spot. But wow, I hope he was trying to sing bad, ’cause it was BAD.
From Fox Sports: Two thumbs up for Tomlin’s first year. I know that might not be sentiment of most Steelers fans, but considering the injury issues toward the end of the season, particularly to Aaron Smith, it was a good start to the Tomlin era.
Fox Sports Video: Ben Roethlisberger is a bad QB. (at Madden)
I’m disappointed for Hines Ward. Jason Taylor won the Walter Payton award. Maybe next year, Hines. Excerpt from the AP article: ”Ward, a four-time Pro Bowl receiver for the Steelers, established a foundation in 2006 to assist biracial children in South Korea who face discrimination, and hosted eight Korean kids for a weekend in Pittsburgh this season.
“Being selected as a finalist for the 2007 Walter Payton Man of the Year is a tremendous honor for me and for my foundation,” Ward said in a statement. “My charitable efforts dually represent the values that my mother instilled in me as a young child and my desire to make the world a better place for all children, in particular those of mixed race who face discrimination in Korea. I hope my nomination raises even more awareness of this cause that is so near and dear to my heart.”
OOPS.
Chuck Noll is only 3rd best Super Bowl coach of all time? I beg to differ. ESPN Poll.
Chad Johnson is getting ridiculous. He loves Bad Bill and might not play in 2008. Be our guest. **UPDATE** Ok, so Ocho Cinco apparently will play. Listening to Mike Ricordati on 1460 the fan today he said this about CJ: He likened CJ to the elementary kid who pulls down his pants and says “look at my pee pee, look what I have!” ie…as the second best WR on his own team, he suddenly needs some attention.
Five Steelers to the HOF in the next ten years? Could be. Next year, Rod Woodson. 2011, Jerome Bettis. Soon, Dermotti Dawson. After that…Hines Ward and Alan Faneca. Although Alan and Hines have a few years left in the tank.
Coach Mike Tomlin is sexy.
